What should you look for in an IOU app?

A good IOU app does more than keep your own note; it makes sure both people see the same record. That is how Wordseal is built: one of you writes it, the other confirms it, and someone you both know can witness it. Before you pick any app, ask these questions. Then write it down.

Is the record one-sided or shared?

A personal note is just one person's memory months later. A shared record that the other person confirmed puts both of your stories in line. Look at this first.

Without confirmation a record is only a claim; with it, you both stand in the same place.

Does the other person need to install anything?

They should not. In Wordseal the other person taps a link, sees the record in their browser and confirms with their own account. Many people do not want another app, and the record should not depend on it.

Tools that insist on a download often stall with the other person.

Does it support gold and any currency?

What people lend is not always the local currency. Wordseal records coins, bracelets, gold by the gram and any currency. What you gave is what the record shows.

You may not always lend cash, and the record needs to carry that variety.

Do the reminders feel pushy?

Reminders should not feel like pressure. Wordseal shows a due date neutrally, and it reminds witnesses only if the lender chooses to.

A pushy reminder weighs on a friendship, so the wording of a notification matters too.

What is free?

Inviting, confirming, witnessing and marking payments or partial payments are always free. Premium adds up to 200 open records at a time, installment plans, up to 10 witnesses per record and no ads. The price is shown in the store.

Seeing what stays free before you choose saves you a surprise later.

Questions people ask

Is a Wordseal record an official document?

No. Wordseal is a social witnessing app: the people you trust know what was agreed. Both of you see and confirm the same record, and every step is kept with its date.

Who can start a record?

Either of you. The borrower or the lender can write it; it starts when the other confirms.

What's free and what's Premium?

Inviting, confirming, witnessing and marking payments or partial payments are always free; on the free plan you can start 2 open records at a time. Premium: up to 200 open records at a time, installment plans, up to 10 witnesses per record, no ads. The price is shown in the store.
